I made the mistake of stopping at my local Honda dealer last week. He had a shiny brand new 1982 CBX sitting in the showroom, kind of an ivory with blue trim, factory fairing and hard saddle bags. Now it may be just macho fever, but I've always loved the looks of these tranverse 6-cylinder beasts. So I asked and he said "around $3200." Don't think I would REALLY buy it, but... Anyone out there with experience or informed opinions on/about the CBX to share with me? Thanks. Just dreaming, Dennis Nichols University of Wisconsin-Madison

These things are generally very smooth although with a slight high frequency tingle. They are very complex (which I think is why they didn't sell), quite fast, charismatic, but a bit of a handful because the wide engine is set high in the frame for ground clearance when cornering, resulting in a high center of gravity that is felt when riding slowly and during quick maneuvers. The CBX represents, to me, the pinnacle of Japanese motorcycle development as it relates to pure machinery. The CBX engine is a jewel. P.A.Ernst AT&T-BL *** REPLACE THIS LINE WITH YOUR MESSAGE ***
