[net.cycle] ez CB mount on Plexistar fairing

Just thought I'd pass this along.....

If you already have one of those Plexistar fairings from National Cycle ($79)
then for an additional $2 and a trip to the hardware store one can construct
a really solid CB radio mount.
All one needs is two L brackets, 2 hose clamps, a strip of good solid steel
and a few nuts and bolts.
The L brackets can be attached to the existing Plexistar uprights with the
hose clamps. The steel bar cut to length and drilled is bolted to the L
brackets.

I then bolted the "under dash" mount that came with the CB to the steel
cross piece. The CB goes on and comes off the bike in about 30 seconds
using those plastic spin-ons that attach the CB proper its under dash
mount (now inverted).

I painted the brackets, clamps and steel cross peice black to match the
rest of the Plexistar mounting hardware.
It looks real clean and is super strong.

If you want to go one step farther Radio Shack has an AM car radio with
a builtin speaker that would mount as easily as the CB.

In any case, $2 in hardware if you alreday have a Plexistar beats ANY
radio mount I've ever seen for non full fairing bikes.
