[net.cycle] Custom Leathers

lat@druil.UUCP (TepperL) (07/11/85)

Another custom leather shop which I have heard highly recommended
is Thurlow Leather in California. You can find them advertised in
the back of the usual cycling magazines in the U.S., (Cycle,
Motorcyclist -- you know, the ones you find on the magazine rack
at the grocery store).

WARNING - I have no direct experience with this company, but have
read two favorable reviews of their products a few years ago. They
have a patented glove design with a seamless palm that is supposed
to be great.

They make standard sizes and also custom tailor leathers and gloves.
Thurlow prefers deerskin products rather than leather. Deerskin
breathes better, is softer yet just as abrasive resistant. The
claim is that its breathing properties help keep you warmer when its
cold and and cooler when its hot. At least one of the reviews I
read concurred with this.
