I just heard on the news this morning that a new record was set in Wisconson. Seems two guys got nailed for doing 138 in a 55 zone. The police are saying it's a new record for a speeder getting caught. (+83!) (Notice I said GETTING CAUGHT!) It didn't give many details, just that they were grabbed when they stopped at a toll booth in Wisconson and that they were on (a) motorcycle(s). I don't kwon if 1 or 2. It had to be an "aircraft" ticket, or the cop should be disciplined for trying to chase at those speeds. mikey at trsvax ps. 55, it's not just a good idea, it S*CKS!!

Weren't these guys caught in Illinois. I don't think Wisconsin has any toll booths, don't want to scare the tourist away with nasty tolls. Rick Schieve ...ihnp4!ihu1g!rls

It can't be a national record... In my wild and crazy youth I once got a ticket for doing 105 in a 15 (+90). I was only trying to catch the front of a one mile long freight train in a mile and a half after I got across the tracks when it went by. Seemed reasonable at the time (ie. wild youth and 2:00 AM). I never did see the cop until he pulled up as I was walking into the building where I worked nights. When he came up with lights and sirens I thought there must be a burglary in process, no such luck. I remember the court incident well as I had eschewed the idea of getting my hair cut and took my chances. Turned out the judge was blind and I ended up with a fine or a week in driver's training. I don't know how the officer arrived at 105; I think he just made a guess. I didn't argue though since I was going considerably faster in the old Firebird. gt "momma always said i'd come to no good; glad she didn't live to see i sank to being an engineer."

I understand that the guys caught going 138 were on a NINJA. I think the record is for absolute speed rather than amount over the speed limit. -- Chan Benson {ihnp4 | hplabs}!hpfcla!chan Hewlett-Packard Company Fort Collins, CO (303) 226-3800 x3892 As usual, HP has nothing to do with what I say here.

The interview with the HP spokeman said it was for highest amount over the limit and getting caught. Personally, I've done faster and even gotten chased but not caught. mikey at trsvax
