I bought a 1982 Yamaha Vision early in July and like it a lot. Espescially since the bike retailed for $3100 in 1982 and I bought it for $1300. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to get their 'feet wet' in street bikes but doesn't want to re-mortgage their house to do it! However, I recently learned from another bike dealer that all Visions sold were supposed to be equipped with a modified carb kit (free of charge from Yamaha). On asking the dealer I bought the bike from, he said "Oh, we have those on backorder." Naturally he didn't mention the kit before I bought the bike. So, basically I'm wondering if anyone else out there has an '82 Vision and how much difference does the kit really make? About the only carb problem I notice is that the engine tends to flood when pulling back hard in first gear. Even with the problem, though, this bike is fast for a 550. Now if it only had better suspension... Oh well, time to add on some '83 com- ponents. -- John Irwin (jdi@Berkeley.EVERYWHERE)
