[net.cycle] Ninja 600R

jon@msunix.UUCP (Jonathan Hue) (10/19/85)

I am thinking of replacing my '84 Honda VF500F Interceptor with a
Kawasaki 600R Ninja. Although the Honda is a fantastic handler, very
light and nimble, it just doesn't *feel* like a sport bike. I think
it is the seating position. I want my arms and back to get sore, just
like on a real race bike. Will the Ninja provide what I'm looking for,
or should I wait for the '86 Honda VFR750, 100hp and 440lbs? Or do I get
a gray market RG500 Gamma two-stroke? Or maybe just a new seat and
handlebars? Any advice to offer, net cyclists?

Oh heck, why not get a Suzuki GSX750R? The new 750 Interceptors should
be good but the Suzuki is lighter and more powerful. I actually would like
to trade my 83 VF750F in on a new Ducati 750F1. Ah now there's a sport bike!
The RG is a bit too much for street duty. I know what you mean about the
Interceptors, there're just too comfortable!!

Actually, there are seven clubs in the U.S. who will be running the
miniceptor series. In the MRA we will have seven sprint races which
will have minceptor races. Each race has a $1500 purse and there is
a $10K points fund for the season. In addition there will be national
races where the top 5 from each club will be paid to go and race for
another $40K or so. We (MRA) are also having a similar program from
Suzuki for *both* the GSXR 750 and GSXR 1100. These are powerful
incentives to get me on a four stroke next year, but alas the Gamma
is THE bike for 86.

No question here... get the RG500 by all means. I'd sell my soul
and even my Kenny Roberts bubble gum card collection for a Gamma.

By all means replace your Intercepted, but don't settle for a Ninjette.
Put some pipes on the Gamma and there isn't a four stroke built that
will fit your loosest definition of "sport bike."

I also raced a 500 Interceptor one race of the midwest WERA series
and a 600 Ninja in an AMACCS race. Both handled great but the Honda

looking meaner, check out the redesigned Interceptor for next year.
