To schwager@a.cs.uiuc.edu, I couldn't find a way to interpret
your address, so forgive the posting here.

Sorry for the delay in responding. Following is the information
on the ear plug company. The product is called Protectear

Aural Technology, Inc

As a review, you get some EENT place to make casts of your ear
canal, and ATI manufactures the earplug from the cost. I got mine
about 4.5 years ago. They say you should have them recast about every
3 years because your canals change -- I can attest to that, they don't
fit as well as they used to. However, much nicer than any non-custom
fit earplugs I have tried - and I tried many of them. The basic problem
is that most of the goods ones don't wear well under helmuts. Also,
you need to be able to hear road sounds and mosst plugs damp all
sound. ATI claims they only attenuate sounds over 80dB. I can also
testify to this. I can hear a riding partner better with the plugs
than without.

Also, regarding tinnitus, there is an American Tinnitus Association.
I am not sure where they are located.
