[] I drive a Honda '80 CX500d, the canadian version (you can tell by the speedometer). The manual recommends different spark plugs for USA model and the canadian model. Its recommends: USA Canadian _______________________________________________________________ D8EA (NGK) DR8ES-L Standard D7EA DR7ES Below 5C, 41F My questions are 1) what is the difference between the USA model's plugs and the Canadian model's plugs? Since the time I brought this bike new in `81, I've always been given the D8EA as replacements. My guess is that the Canadian type are resistive type plug, but even if I'm right, what does this really mean to my proformance (power, gas mileage). 2) I'm about to change to the colder weather plugs. How important is that the temperature be below 5C/41F, ie. it safe to ride during a warm spell of about around 55F with the cold weather plugs? I have never seen my temperature guage go more than 3/4 the way into the normal operating range strip on the guage, in the hottest conditions ( mid 90s, traffic jam ). Normally it only is about 1/4 the way into this zone. Currently in this high 30's, low 40's tempature weather the guage doesn't quite make it to this zone. Should I just change my plugs and/or have my coolant temperature guage checked? range. The only major difference between the USA and the Canadian models is the Emission Control system. The Canadian model has none. Thanks for any response I might receive. -- Mark Pulver watmath!watvlsi!pulver (U of W VLSI Group, Waterloo, Ont, Canada) on loan to AT&T Bell Labs as pulver@allegra
