Once again time to get advice from the net. I am in the process of cleaning up my BMW 75/5 '72. If you will recall, in March of this year I purchased the aforementioned bike. It has now got ~30k miles on it and has some problems. These include amoung them a rusty frame/swingarm etc. Right now I have the bike in my basement in pieces and I need to know what to do next. 1) What type of paint should the frame be painted with and how much the cost? Assuming that I paint from bare metal up. 2) How can I eliminate minor acid damage on the aluminum tranny case? 3) what in general should I do to clean up the oxidization on all the other aluminum surfaces (without ruining the normal textured finish)? 4) What can I do to remove carbon from heads myself? I could have them bead-blasted but this costs $$$. Alumnium heads remember... 5) for you Ohioans Where can I get a good paint job (metallic), how much? 6) Where can I get teflon valve seats? I hear these will allow burning unleaded gasoline, is this true? How much the cost? 7) What can I do to improve the front forks ( I want to ride with and without my Luftmeister fairing). I have been bottoming out when riding hard. 8) Does anyone have an R90S for parts only? I would like to buy the fork legs and the disk brake system. I have already priced the parts needed to get the bike back together in stock condition, I would like to do improvements such as Konis, H4 headlight and maybe the needle bearing rocker conversion. Does anyone know exactly what the advantages of the needle bearing rockers are? Thanks alot, Mark Froelich cbosgd!osu-eddie!mwf Get your motor running, Head out on the highway, Looking for adventure, Or whatever comes my way... -- \ / -Mark Froelich Die :-) Happy cbosgd!osu-eddie!mwf / \ (614) 299-2305 2096 Tuller St. Cowlumbus OH 43201

I have been bottoming out when riding hard. For front forks, I suggest purchasing anti-bottoming springs from San Jose BMW in (where else) San Jose CA. These are not a BMW part, but these folks know what they are doing. They help to eliminate the characteristic BMW front-end dive on hard braking. They are cheap and easy to install. Of course, it sounds like your front end needs more help than this. I installed them in my new R65 (I used to have the same bike you have) and they are great.
