After three years away from biking, I have decided to pull the two- wheeled beast out of storage and start riding again. The machine in question is a '78 Honda CX-500. Although it has been kept in a garage out of the rain, it has developed skin cancer (rust). I have cleaned this up to a large extent with steel wool and elbow grease. Now that it almost looks presentable, what is the best way to keep it that way? Is automotive wax the answer? Heavy coating of oil? (Effective, but ugly.) On a similar note, is there any way to clean up the aluminum pieces, such as the front forks, where the plastic coating has been worn away or damaged. Are there special potions available for cleaning and protecting these areas? Thanks from a fellow two-wheeler. -- Paul Lutt (206) 356-5059 John Fluke Mfg. Co. P.O.
