I ride 500 miles a week commuting on an '82 Yamaha Vision with factory fairing. Here's my gear: Bates winter gloves with Goretex liners - they cost close to $50, but are worth every cent! I've stopped using my "Hippo Hands" (wind deflector) because they are so warm. Frank Thomas boots (English - very comfortable) Wheels of man jump suit Dry Rider one-piece nylon rain coat (when needed) Rubbers to slip over my boots in the rain. Apple warmer (seals between the helmet and jacket) Masque" by Malcom Smith - its a cut-down ski mask that does a great job keeping my chin warm. The only problem I haven't solved is the helmet. I've been using a Marushin MV85 lately, but (like all others I have tried), the darned thing just doesn't seal around the face mask. The dealer says all helmets are this way, and to use weatherstripping. Kind of kludgey. Since there is often light mist or fog in the morning here, I've ended up putting a strip of 2 inch masking tape across the top to keep condensed water from dripping down the inside of the shield. Big sticky mess, but it works. Does anyone know of a helmet that doesn't leak across the top? By the waym to keep my breath from fogging things up, I use "Clear View" (a pink waxy stick). Doesn't do any good if the rain creeps in, though. -- phil ... Phil Glatz, MicroPro Product Development {dual,hplabs,glacier,lll-crq}!well!micropro!mp-dixie!phil

from jamitche @uok written 4/7/86 I've used various incarnations of NAVA helments for years (lastly an Intergral NAVA III). The face shield fits nicely into recesses in the helment proper, and I've ridden in the worst thunder-storm OK has to offer, without leakage past the seal. Unfortunatly, it does fog (cold rain, warm breath). Maybe one of the new vented Nava's would alleviate that. I have one ordered. I'll let you know.
