[net.cycle] Info on Yamaha Fazer.

robert@sri-spam.ARPA (Robert Allen) (04/03/86)

I'm considering purchasing a 1986 Yamaha Fazer (not Phaser).
FYI, this is the bike using the detuned FS750 engine, and
which looks sort of like a Go-Bot. It being a new bike, there
is very little info on how it actually rides. I'm interested
in hearing from anyone who has ridden one, owns one, etc..

Specifically, I want to know what kind of power it has, how much it
has, how good the tires are at road holding, and how the bike handles
in a lean and on curves. What I'm looking for in this bike is
plenty of power, reliability, excellent cornering ability, and good
handling on bumpy, twisty roads.

Replys direct to me if possible, else to group. If enough people are
interested and I get enough replys, I will post a summary to the net.

				Thanks in advance,

				Robert Allen

<Sorry for posting this but site nike was unknown to site ucbvax and direct
mail failed!>

Check your newstand. One of the latest crop of cycle rags (Cycle Guide, if I
remeber right) did a complete test of the Fazer.

Don't think of the Fazer as being detuned! Yamaha just dropped a couple of
mills off the stroke to make it under the 700cc tariff line that adds a
whopping 25% import duty (thank your congressperson and Harley Davidson for
that one)!

i would love to have one of these bikes. check out the May 86 edition
of 'cycle world' they have the complete breakdown. they seem to be
very high on it, and from what i have read i don't blame them, it gets
to 80mph as fast as the new Honda VFR750F interceptor, 5.3 secs.
if you get one lemme no how you like it. for only $3500 i thinking about
getting one myself.
