Just to join the frey. I have a 1983 CB650SC and in the 14K miles I have put on it have been extremely happy. It gets ~45 mpg and has hit an honest 110 mph. The bike; however, has a couple a bug I have found: If you don't ride for over two weeks the carbs are due for a good cleaning. This is much too short in the area I live in because the weather in northern NJ is to say the least funky. One suggestion I have for equiping you bike if you get the 650 is a good set of aftermarket shocks. The ride w/ the stock dampers is not what you would generally call cushy. 2 weeks and the carbs need cleaning...... Buy a different brand of petro-swill. Avoid 7-11s etc. I attended a short lecture by a BG products person recently and that company's analysis of the oil coming into the country says that there is a LOT of really atrocious gas going to go into tanks this summer. Even Volvo is recommending a gasoline additive (BG) to keep fuel injectors clean from the gum this gas carries ..... and NO manufacturer recommends additives unless there is a REAL good reason. Here's to better starts..... Ron Miller {ihnp4}hpfcla!ron
