Ok, I've heard the phrase "a $10 helmet for a $10 head" enough. I've never seen a helmet advertised for less than about $50. Isn't it the case, here in the US of A, that the DOT must approve any helmet? I was under the (mis?) impression that the DOT testing, although not nearly as severe as, say, Snell, is still enough to insure that the helmet is capable of positive effect. The helmet surveys I've seen in the popular mags all talk about how the DOT tests are *possibly* more appropriate for the street than Snell. Another aside: the Road Rider survey that is currently the subject of flamage here takes into account more than the just the Road Rider audience. They anonymously asked the same questions of a number of organizations, including ABATE, AMA, GWRRA (Gold Wing owners), BMWMOA (BMW owners), and others. In fact, there were more responses from the AMA than from RR readers. Pick up the issue and read it, the stats ARE very interesting. --Darryl Richman, INTERACTIVE Systems Corp. ...!cca!ima!ism780!darryl The views expressed above are my opinions only.
