Forgive me for resurrecting this probably over-thrashed topic, but I'm
confused and I think many of us can benefit from net.cyclers experience.
I have two cars and my '79 BMW R100RS insured with State Farm. They seem
to be very competitive with car rates, but I'm not sure they're into bikes.
I carry 100/300/50 liability (mostly because we own our house), and $100
deductible comprehensive, and $200 ded. collision and uninsured motorist
coverage. My premium is $532/year. My License is clean. There are two
drivers for the three vehicles. I thought the premium was high until I
checked around. I got quotes for $818 for 15/30/10 and $300 ded comp
coll from Northland, and another for $462 for the same coverage from
another company. I tried getting a quote from Dairyland, but the brokers
with whom I spoke said they'd be too high (?).
I should say that I've had only one claims experience (with my car) with
State Farm, and, although they are a Beaurocracy, they treated me very
fairly and quickly.
If you'd like to send me your experiences with insurance, stating which
bike, ins company, coverages and premium you have, I'll summarize and
post a follow-up.
Thanks.
