[hold the russian!] Not only is it non-Euclidean, but I suspect that it's non-orientable. The first time I went downtown, I found myself at an unpromising intersection. I then walked left 1 block right 1 block left 1 block and found myself back at the same intersection. -- Col. G. L. Sicherman ...seismo!rochester!rocksvax!sunybcs!gloria!colonel

<-\|/->/|\ which way ? More Boston topology. Boston roads were designed by cows. The reason Mass Ave does a right angle through Harvard Square is that there was a really juicy patch of grass right over there. If two roads intersect at right angles anywhere in Mass., state law requires: 1. All four branches are one-way going into the intesection. 2. A one-lane feeder is constructed (only takes a couple of years) to channel traffic out of the intersection. 3. Both roads change names as they pass through the intersection. (or better, only one road changes names; the other makes a right angle turn and continues). 4. All identifying road signs *MUST* be removed. These are major roads. You should know where you are.
