I like many others have packed the cycle away in the garage and have started the yearly restoration. It is time to repack the wheel bearings, disassemble everything and hopefully reassemble in the same or better working order. This year I am getting a little more ambitious and intend on making a new wiring harness among other things. The machine being disected is a 1973 BMW R75/5 so the wiring is on the verge of letting go due to age alone. The condition of the engine casing is my main worry however (along with the muffler cross-piece) it is looking pretty "ratty" and I want to clean it up. Everything I have done so far, wire brush, cleaners, etc, don't really improve the look. It looks like wire brushed cleaner was put on the engine and spread the dirt around a bit. I am sure that a lot of others are into the annual clean-up drive so this may be the time for the net to turn our collective expertise to this and other topics related to restoration of our gentle beasts. If anyone has any suggestions or tips they want to share please post them or mail them to me and I will summarize to the net. work: (519)-885-1211 ext.2457 -------------------------------------------------------- UUCP: ..!{utzoo,decvax,ihnp4,allegra}!watmath!klmartin | ARPA: klmartin%watmath%waterloo.csnet@csnet-relay.arpa | CSNET: klmartin%watmath@waterloo.CSNET | -------------------------------------------------------- There are Old bikers and Bold bikers but no Old Bold bikers!!!!!
