In response to all the questions about helmets that have shown up on the net lately, I'd like to recommend that you check out the November issue of ROAD RIDER. They've got a special section on helmets, including an article on helmet standards, where they come from and how they're measured (including a funny typo), an interview with Harry Hurt in which he claims the theoretically "more lenient" DOT standard provides better protection for road riders than the stiffer Snell standard, a rebuttal from the Snell folks, and a comparison of several high-tech helmets including the vented Marushin and the flip-front BMW. There's also the usual complement of other stuff, like a test of the Suzuki Savage, a 625cc single (!) cruiser that seems to have it all over the Honda Rebel 450 in the "sophomore bike" market, and an interesting article on the Natchez Trace Parkway. Best of all, there's nothing about helmet laws or legal issues outside the letters page!
