How many of the currently available 35mm cameras have spot-metering? I don't mean center-weighted averaging with 60% weighting in the center 40% of the viewfinder, I mean 100% weighting in <5% of the viewfinder. I have a Mamiya/Sekor 1000 DTL which has both spot and averaging, but for the last 10 years I've used nothing but spot-metering, and wouldn't think of using anything else. In my meanderings through photo magazines I have noticed that almost no one offers it, even as an option (I think Canon and Leica are the exception). Have I missed something? I realize that with automatic exposure, spot-metering can be unwieldy. Given a choice, I'd rather have spot-metering over auto exposure any day. I'm looking for complete control of the exposure, and that's what I get with spot-metering/manual exposure. If anyone knows of specific cameras (particularly in the <$400 catagory) that have spot-metering, let me know. I live in fear that my 1000 DTL will croak someday, and then where will I be?
