My NIKKORMAT FT2 is about 10-15 years old (it was purhchased used), and
it's never been any trouble whatsoever.
I also frequently use it without batteries, the only thing that doesn't
work is the light meter--so big deal.
I have a feeling that the only experience you have had with NIKON is
the `EM' series ('ze camera zat goes BYEEP BYEEP)--I have heard that
the `EM' is a real turkey.
