Both the COKIN book and a very nice one by HOYA are marked with a nominal fee, but most dealers of these brands of filters will give you one if they think you may buy filters from them. The HOYA book includes a nomography for lighting/filtration/film-sensitivty to determine Color Compensation filtration when the light source 'color temperature' doesn't match the film's. Very useful. Producers of other lines of filters produce similar books. UNDERGROUND CAMERA, Foxboro, MA, mail-order and Boston area stores, imports the MARUMI slip-on, twist off filters and a similar free booklet.
