According to this months Pop. Photo., Kodak is coming out with 4 new color negative films, VR 100, VR 200, VR 400 and VR 1000. The VR 1000 is the ASA 1000 film that is just out. The VR 100, VR 200, and VR 400 are supposedly coming out in July. The VR 100 (asa 100) is supposed to be the best general purpose color negative film Kodak will make in terms of grain and sharpness. It is also supposed to be much superior to Kodacolor II. VR 200 is supposed to be about equivalent to Kodacolor II, but with twice the speed. VR 400 is supposed to be slightly better than Kodacolor 400. The comparison photos in the article seemed to bear this out. The VR 100, VR 200 and VR 400 are supposed to borrow some of the disk camera film technology (disk camera film is good stuff by the way, but the negs are so small) but is not the same film. They all will use the C41 (Kodacolor) developing process. They didn't say anything about phasing out Kodacolor II and Kodacolor 400, but if what the article says is true, I see no reason anyone would want to buy them. -Bill Schell (allegra!bill)
