This discussion of the best zoom macro lens brings up the issue of what was the best lens ever. My nominee is the 50-300 f/3.5 zoom-Nikkor. Goes for over $1500 and must be special ordered; more if you want it with fluourite glass. Any other nominees? Wayne Citrin (ucbvax!citrin)
