I almost never venture outside with my camera without a polarizing filter on my lens(es). It is the only way to obtain spectacular sky effects such a bright clouds against a blue-black sky. The polarizer also adds surface detail by eliminating specular reflected light. The only warning about using a polarizing filter is REMEMBER TO TAKE OFF YOUR POLAROID SUNGLASSES before adjusting the filter for maximum effect. Fortunately I learned this before putting the filter on my camera because the crossed polarizers practically passed no light. Michael Kay (makay) Reed College n
