[net.rec.photo] Looking for lense information

   I've been looking at some wide-short telephoto zooms and would like
   to solicit opinions on the following:


       Vivitar Series I  28-90
       Vivitar 28-80  F2.8

       Tamron  28-80(?)  (Can't remember the exact focal length, but
				thereabouts)

       Sigma   35-80(?)



       I have sort of a fondness for Vivitar lenses having used their
       70-150 zoom, and a 90mm macro for years.  But I haven't looked
       at any of their lenses lately, and I've been told that they've
       changed manufacturers.

       I don't know anything about Sigma or Tamron lenses and would 
       welcome even general impressions.




       And while we're at it, how about recommendations for mail-order
       places?  I know that that's a constant topic in this newsgroup
       but it's one which stands repeating.


       You might as well post responses, there must be other folks 
       out there with money to burn.
