[net.rec.photo] Topcon D-1

I also have a Topcon D-1 bought years ago, and have had little if any
trouble with it. I would be hard pressed to trade it for a new system,
even though it is heavier and doesn't have all of the new-fangled
features. It certainly is built like a tank, and its inertia keeps it
from bouncing about on a slow exposure.

The only problem I seem to have is expanding my system. Where can I
find lenses to fit the same mount? Someone mentioned Exacta's, what
are they and are they still around? I don't want to sacrifice the
auto stop-down feature, so just fitting in the bayonet mount isn't
enough. Specifically, I'd like to get a zoom in the range of say
70-200mm.

I have heard that Topcons are still being made, but that they have
priced themselves out of the US market. Just rumor, but if anyone has
any confirming knowledge, I'd like to hear it.

Carl.
