Since you want (I presume) a fully auto camera with various other modes as well, first take a good look at the Pentax Super Program. Sorry, now you have 3 cameras to decide between. I'd be glad to say what I do & don't like about mine, on request. Otherwise, my impression of the FG is that it is much lighter and very easy to operate compared to the Canon A1. However, it seems not to be as rugged -- the lens operating lever from the body (stop-down) looks vulnerable and was broken on one store demo model. If you plan to carry your camera around a lot but not change lenses in a hurry often, I'd recommend the Nikon. mike k.
