Are you sure the local shop don't send it back too ? Anyway, if you are in the NY area, Marty Forscher (sp?) at 27 (?) W 47 St. is a good established shop for the working pro, and he is getting more popular (read: more well known ?) among amateurs, too. Canon also have a place on Third Ave, and I'm not sure if Nikon House in Rockerfeller Center will repair things. I love NY ! Au Nguyen

When I lived in Boston and in San Francisco, I was disappointed with the local Nikon service. Now, I mail all my gear back to NYC every year or two to Professional. They do the work, return the gear, and then mail you the bill. A hassle, but definitely worth it for good equipment.
