[net.rec.photo] info needed on 35-135mm zoom lens

I'm in the process of deciding on a 35-135mm zoom lens to buy.
This range in focal length seems attractive for cameo shots
of my kids are highly camera conscious.  BUT, which one to 
buy?  Anyone with recommendation or experience?
