I am a moderately enthusiastic amateur photographer, and I am looking to upgrade from my Nikon EM. This is the bottom-of-the-line Nikon, and is an aperture-priority automatic (no manual override). It has been quite serviceable, though, and I also happen to have some Nikon (E series) lenses; therefore, I am planning to stick with Nikon and just get a fancier model. I would greatly appreciate any advice from you Nikon owners out there, with specific regard to the FM-2, FE-2, FG and FG-20 bodies, which seem to be approximately in the price range I am interested in. I am interested in a camera with program mode, and preferably both aperture-priority auto and shutter-priority auto and complete manual override. I usually take slides (average about 10/month) and occasional B&W prints (almost never colour prints). A very fast (<1/2000) shutter speed is not essential, but I take a lot of time exposures, so some feature (such as a built-in settable timer) that helps in long exposures would be great. Any advice and information about good or bad experiences with the above cameras, prices, etc. would be most welcome. -- ...ihnp4!btlunix!rajeev -- usenet ihnp4!btlunix!rajeev@BERKELEY -- arpanet Sri Rajeev, SF 1-342, Bell Labs, Summit, NJ 07901.
