[net.rec.photo] double exposure

josephs@ttidcb.UUCP (Bill Josephs) (12/05/84)

Double exposures can be done for any camera by following the following
steps:

1. Use the rewind know to tighten the unexposed film in the can.
2. Take shot one.
3. While holding the rewind knob, press the rewind button (the button
which disengages the film transport) and work the wind lever to
		cock the shutter.

I know that it sounds as if you need three hands but, on most cameras,
it will work. The film may move slightly -- you'll have to check each
camera (and make sure the film is really tight) -- stpe 1.

One has to be very careful, though. In doing step 3, winding so as to
cock the shutter, some cameras will reset the rewind button, and if you
try to hold that button ( sometimes lever also, Leica M3 ) down, either
you can break it, ruin the gears or jam the cocking mechanism. This pro-
cedure may turn out to be very expensive ( repair costs ) and time consuming
( time you spend without you camera ) .
