I own a Pentax Super Program and have been interested in
purchasing additional lenses for it. Since its introduction
of the A series lenses, Pentax has not been allowing other
manufacturers to produce this series of lenses. I heard that
they were going to allow this eventually. Does anyone know
when A series lenses from other manufacturers will be on the
market. (Actually there is one other brand of A series lenses
made by a Pentax related firm). I am interested in a
zoom (28~70mm).

Doesn't Vivitar make an A-mount lens?

I bought a Pentax Me super last year in nyc (I think it was at 4 guys
camera). Instead of pentax lenses I got several (1.7, 2.8 Wide, and
80-200 telescopic zoom) from a manufacturer called zycor (or something
close). I am very happy with the lenses.

SMC stands for super multi coated. Pentax lenses cost more because they are
a hell of a lot better in quality, then say zycor or vivitar. You get
what you pay for in the camera industry. As a test try scratching your
vivitar lens and then your pentax. See which looks better.
Also another good lens is Nikor by that small company called Nikon.
