Last week I picked up a Larson Studio Deluxe I. For $109 (Prestige Photo NY) you get an umbrella w/ strobe bracket, a reflectasol reflector, a modeling light, a pair of stands, clamps to mount the equipment, and a handy carrying bag. For $30 less you get the Studio I without the stands and the bag. You attach your shoe-mount or handle strobe to the bracket and the modeling lamp lets you see what you are doing. My only suggestion is to use a relatively high power unit with this system. It is definitely an inexpensive way to experiment with out studio lighting techniques. Providing that you can accept the lower power and shoot smaller subjects at wider f-stops or use faster film, you can get very creditable results. Until I can get $800 for a Novatron system, this will do nicely. -r-
