I have a Pentax PC35AF pocket autofocus 35mm camera for "snapshot"-type pictures. I really like the convenience; I have gotten many shots with it I wouldn't have gotten if I'd only had my Nikon. However, I'm not very impressed with the quality of some of the shots. Anything focussed at infinity (landscapes, etc.) seems to come out pretty well, although not as sharp as I'd expect for 35mm. Nearer shots, though, all seem to come out pretty fuzzy. As an example, I have a shot of some wine bottles taken from about 3 feet away, and you can't read ANY of the labels -- even though the print is large enough that it should be quite easy. The thing is just so out of focus that the print blurs. I sent it back to Pentax repair, who promptly returned it with a verdict of "no problem found". I can't believe this is the quality level that Pentax would put into, and accept in, one of their cameras. Does anyone else have this camera, and does it focus short-to-medium range pictures correctly? Or is it really just a 110 Instamatic in disguise? :-) Please respond BY MAIL. Thanks!
