I wonder if anyone out there has either definitive experience or solid technical knowledge with respect to the flock of "hypo eliminators" that are being marketed these days. A typical one is Edwal "4 & 1". Their recommendation with respect to "normal" processing of DW paper is: one minute in running water, three minutes in their magic brew, and then fifteen minutes in running water. For "archival" processing, they say follow the above with three minutes in a second bath of "magic" and a final fifteen min wash. Do these things really work? A "I've been using them and my prints are ok" response won't tell me much, because I, too, have used these nostrums when I am in a hurry and my prints seem to have held up for a few years so far. Thanks in advance. -- Herb Kanner Tymnet, Inc. ...!hplabs!oliveb!tymix!kanner
