[net.rec.photo] Copying prints and slides. Spiratone experiences?

ems@amdahl.UUCP (ems) (09/18/85)

I have recently re-awakened my interest in photography. This
was partly caused by digging through my old collection of photos
during a cleaning of the closet, and partly as a result of
shooting a dozen or so rolls of film in Hawaii...

One of the things that I discovered was that I have some old
prints friends have given me, for which I have no negatives.
Another was that I have many slides, but my friends like to
look at prints. Some of the slides (made before I bought a
Zoom lens) have, er, less than ideal framing.

So what's the point? I would like to duplicate my slides, perhaps
changing the framing on some of them. Also, I would like to make
prints from them (and maybe negatives?). It would be great to be
able to duplicate my negativeless prints. Any insight on copy
work would be greatly appreciated.

I have seen several adds in the photo mags from a company named
Spiratone (or something close). They seem to specialize in copy
related products. Any experience with their slide copier lens?
The flat field 75mm and bellows for prints?

I have a Cannon FT QL vintage 1970 or so (Yea Gods, an antique,
stop down metering!! No auto anything.) Any suggestions on good
lenses for copying? (It will take the FD series of lenses also.)
Any film suggestions would also be welcome, in particular, does
tungsten ectachrome do a good job of print copying under
regular old 100w bulbs?

Well, this should liven up net.rec.photo for a while. A 'novice'
to educate, pontificate to, reprimand, coddle, and generally
have fun with! Thanks for the help.
