Hi there, Does anyone have any feedback on 35mm cameras with automatic focus. I'm not talking of the auto focus SLR's but rather the cameras that set speed and flash requirements automaticaly. If anyone owns a camera such as this I would be interested in The make and model, the price, any outstanding features and your impressions of the performance. I am looking at cameras such as the Canon Sureshot. Please mail your replies and I will sumarize to the net. Thanks -- Steve Grice "For all you do ...philabs!micomvax!steve disk bugs for you"

I was going to reply by electronic mail but the path was so long this seemed easier. I have a Ricoh FF-90 autofocus 35mm and I am quite happy with it. The picture quality is good ( ie, a decent lens) and it picks reasonable exposures. There is a feature which allows for backlighting and that has worked well. My only complaints are 1- The flash takes too long to be ready, somewhere around 6-8 seconds 2- If you do a lot of flash, the camera eats batteries. 3- Some of my flash close-ups are over-exposed. However, there ain't no way to make an auto everything do what my Nikon FE used to do ( it was stolen on the last Europe trip, sigh). But the majority of the pictures have been excellent. Good luck. I think there are newer ones available with faster flash cycle times.
