[net.rec.photo] Canon T70

Does any body in the net land own the "Vision of the Future"
camera from Canon, the T70 ?
I am very much interested in that camera because
it has push button controls, automatic loading and advancing
to frame 1, automatic film advance, automatic rewinding,
2 metering modes, exposure lock, shutter preferred and manual
modes, 3 program modes, uses 2 AA batteries which are more
easily available when compared to Silver Oxide batteries and
which supposedly last for forty eight 36 exposure rolls, a huge
LCD panel located next to shutter release button providing all
the info you need, and a host of other fancy features.
I haven't seen the camera yet. I would like to
receive from owner(s) of this latest miracle from Canon any
comments regarding the performance of the Camera. I would also
like to know about the viewfinder info in the various modes.

I considered getting a T70 when I lost my Canon A-1 and eventually
decided against the T70 for one major reason: Too damn much automation.
People will argue either way, but I feel that the automatic cameras
put too much distance between me and photography. Others will argue that
the automation frees them up to be more creative and allows them to spend
less time setting and changing film and gives them more time to compose.
So be it, personal preferences.

A more logical argument against the T70 is power consumption.
How long are those batteries going to last? How 'bout in cold weather?
I live in NH and used my A-1 a lot during the winter. I either had to
keep the camera inside my jacket most of the time or change batteries
alot. Three minutes in open air at 20 degrees F brought the camera to
a standstill. Without power you can't use the damn thing.

I'm buying a new camera, and am considering the Canon T70.
Does anyone have one of these models or have any advice/info
on bugs, etc regarding this camera? In helpful hints would
be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
