[net.rec.photo] advice sought on NIKON lenses

----
I have about 500 bucks right now that I want to blow on some good glass
for my Nikon FA. My problem is that I can't make up my mind what to get.
I'm looking at Nikon AI lenses, though I'm open to suggestions. I have a
complete set of cheapo zooms (wide angle and telephoto), teleconverters,
etc. I'm looking now for excellent quality fixed focal length lenses.
Here are some questions I have (all refer to Nikon lenses):

1. How does the 28mm f3.5 Perspective Control lens compare, say, to
the regular 28mm f2.0 lens? Of course it has the PC feature, but
I mean otherwise. Am I giving up too much (speed, vignetting, flare,
distortion) in order to get the PC feature?

2. Similarly, how does the 55mm f2.8 micro lens compare with the
standard 50mm f1.4? Would someone please tell me again how the
micro feature differs from a macro feature.

3. Are the gray market lenses of a lower quality then the NIKON USA
versions, or is the only difference the warranty? One mail order
store salesman implied they were lower quality.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

My favorite lense is the Nikon 24 mm lense.

You have to use it to believe it!
