As TACs are replacing TIPs on the net, we have discovered a problem:
TACs will only go into 8-bit binary mode in one direction - from the
TAC port to the remote host - and lie about having done so in both
directions.
Thus, we can upload to MC just fine, and those of you who use TIP
access to MC or your favorite host can download - but not through a
TAC. This condition has been confirmed with two different TACs.
I have informed the NCC and we are working the problem and hope to
have the exact problem area pinpointed in the next day or so, and
fixed shortly thereafter. I'll let you know when that happens.
