[net.music] Weird Al and copyrights

mdf@osu-eddie.UUCP (Mark D. Freeman) (02/07/86)

I just got a copy of Weird Al's new album, including "Dare to be Stupid".
I have a hazy memory of a DEVO tune called "Dare to be Different" that sounded
just like this, and the videos were very similar as well.

With the other 'cover' tunes on this album, the credits indicate who wrote the
original music, credits Al for the words, and gives the copyright info. for
the original, but not on "Dare to be Stupid". This just credits Al as the
author.

Am I wrong in connecting this with the DEVO tune? Did someone screw up at the
printers? Any theories?
