I am in the process of installing BSD 2.9 on some 11's and in the distribution I have, I found a file called rm.badsect.c containing a frightening comment about not being tested. It is SCCS id 2.1 dated 8/23/83. Does anybody know if it works, and if it doesn't is there someone out there who has a copy that *does* work? As they say, thanks in advance, -- Hans van Staveren, | mcvax!vu44!sater Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam | sater@vu44.UUCP

While mostly correct, there are some problems with the bad sectoring in the device drivers originally distributed for 2.9BSD If you wish to use these drivers, I suggest that you not use the bad sectoring. An RM driver with correct bad sectoring can be obtained from either The Center for Seismic Studies or Harvard University. To give credit where it's due, the bad sectoring fixes were done by Stephen Uitti at Purdue University. Keith Bostic keith@seismo.CSS.GOV seismo!keith +1 703 276 7900
