From: zaumen at SRI-TSC Just got the following two notices from my bank (as the result of what was later termed an "internal error") ... ON 05-27-82 YOUR ACCOUNT WAS OVERDRAWN $5039.21. ... ON 05-28-82 YOUR ACCOUNT WAS OVERDRAWN $10078.42. ... ...leading me to speculate as to whether this represents a linear function of time or an exponential. Hopefully this will serve as a good object lesson for systems programmers who see nothing wrong with programs that produce cryptic messages and programs that work "if you know what you are doing". For example, if the tape librarian receives a request to put ALL your tapes in the Scratch Pool, maybe the system could suggest that you be called (maybe even by telephone) just to be sure.
