COMPUTER CONFERENCING ACTIVITIES ON BIOENERGY
---------------------------------------------
Two computer conferences have been arranged from 15 June to 21
June 1984 during the Special Seminar on BIOENERGY IN DEVELOPING
COUNTRIES (June 15-16) and the BIOENERGY 84 WORLD CONFERENCE
AND EXHIBITION (June 18-21) at Gothenburg, Sweden.
,
AIMS
The general aims of the Biogas and Bioenergy 84 Computer Conferences
are:
(a) to provide an additional communication technique to
participants for their exchange of information, discussion
    of papers and posters, etc;
(b) to allow the on-line participation of those who are unable
to attend the face-to-face conferences at Gothenburg; and
(c) to enable participants of the face-to-face conferences to
acquaint themselves with computer conferencing techniques.
,
SCOPE
The Biogas Computer Conference will primarily be a technical
conference for the discussion of biogas papers and posters that
are presented at the two face-to-face conferences. To participate,
please join the teleconference "Anaerobic Digestion (MIRCEN)"
in COM (QZ, Stockholm) or "Mircenet Newsletter" in EIES (U.S.A.).
A preliminary list of participants who are presenting biogas
papers or posters is available from the organizer and those who
wish to participate on-line should obtain this list in order
to request papers or posters (if available) from the authors.
,
The teleconference "Bioenergy 84" is intended for general communication
and discussion of all other bioenergy related topics. It will
also be available to exhibitors to make announcements about their
products. "Bioenergy 84" will be available only in COM.
,
For questions concerning how to convert your personal computer
into a communication terminal, COM's computer network account,
and other technical communication information, please write to
either: QZ computer Centre, Stockholm University, Box 27322, S
102 54 Stockholm, Sweden; or Computerized Conferencing and
Communication Center, New Jersey Institute of Technology, 323
High Street, Newart, New Jersey 07102, U.S.A.
,
We look forward to your participation on-line.

Comment by Jacob Palme:

You can participate in these conferences in three ways:

(a) Get an account in the EIES computer conference system in
New Jersey.

(b) Get an account in the COM computer conference system in
Stockholm, Sweden.

(c) Get all entries in the conferences sent via MAILNET to
your personal mailbox in any mail system which can be reached
via MAILNET, CSNET, ARPANET, BITNET, JNT-MAIL or USENET.

If you prefer alternative (b) och (c) you must send a postal
letter with your signature to Customer Registration, QZ
Computer Centre, Box 27322, 102 54 Stockholm. Indicate if you
represent a university or a public research institute, since
this will give you lower rates.

If you prefer alternative (c), be sure to indicate exactly
your electronic mail address to reach you from either YORK
(in the U.K.) or from MIT-MULTICS.ARPA (in the U.S.), in
your letter to us.

The charges in alternative (b) will be that you will have to
pay the computer network costs to connect to QZ, plus a charge
of about 0.20 US Dollars/read entry.

The charges in alternative (c) will be 1-2 US Dollars per
transmitted entry except for JNT-MAIL, where the charge will
be half as much.

These charges apply for universities. For public research,
multiply by 1.6, for commerical users, multiply by 2.2.
