Job Description

We are looking for people with extensive experience with Berkeley 4.2 UNIX
software.  We run Berkeley 4.2 on DEC VAX 11/780 and 11/750's, and on new
SUN hardware, so knowledge of DEC and SUN hardware is desirable. The new
staff members will join current full-time staff members in what we hope will
be a well balanced group where each staff member has sufficient breadth of
knowledge of all our systems as well as in-depth knowledge of one or more.

Salary/Benefits

Salary will be dependent on qualifications and experience.  Benefits will
be similar to other University benefit programs.

The new staff members will be encouraged to participate in department research
projects, conferring with faculty, graduate students and other staff members
in the design and implementation of research projects.

The Rochester New York Environment

Rochester is in western New York, on the southern shore of Lake Ontario.
It is 1 hour east of Buffalo, 3 hours from Toronto, and 7 hours from
New York City (by car).  Attractions include Lake Ontario and the Finger
Lakes, providing lots of water activity.  During the winter, there is both
downhill and cross-country skiing, as well as ice skating and curling.
Other local attractions include Letchworth State Park (the Grand Canyon of
the East), and numerous vineyards along the Finger Lakes.  City attractions
include the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, museums, the Geva Theatre and
other entertainment and restaurants.  We have mild wet springs, pleasant
summers, gorgeous falls, and cold snowy winters.
