From GSB@MIT-MC Fri Jul 13 17:53:24 1984 The Electrical Engineering Computer Facility at Stanford University has a job opening for a UNIX Systems Programmer. Stanford EE-CF currently operates a DEC-2060, four VAX-780 UNIX systems, and a number of MC68000 based Ethernet "tips" and gateways, all connected to the Stanford Ethernet. The UNIX systems programmer will be responsible for the development, installation, and maintenance of new software facilities. The systems programmer will aid the Facility Manager in determining future hardware needs and in planning new hardware facilities. He or she will share responsibility for the hiring, training, and supervision of student staff. Considerable opportunity exists for independent development projects. The successful applicant will have two or more years experience with UNIX operating system. Experience with kernel modification and development is highly desirable. Knowledge of ethernet-based LAN's is essential. Experience with other operating systems such as TOPS-20 or VAX/VMS is desirable. The applicant must be a self starter and capable of working closely with other people.
