From GSB@MIT-MC Mon Aug 20 15:40:59 1984 Columbia University Department of Computer Science Research Staff Associate Reporting to the Principal Hardware Engineer, this individual will be responsible for the maintenance of hardware in the research computing facility. Responsibilities: - Testing and diagnosing problems associated with computers, peripherals and related equipment. Repairing such equipment as required. - Monitoring and performing preventive maintenance on equipment to insure its continued operation. - Installing hardware modifications as described by the equipment vendor. - fabricating, testing and installing special devices to meet the needs of the research community. - other duties as required. This individual's twenty four hour availability will be vital to the reliable operation of the facility's computing hardware. Occasional travel for training will be required. Current hardware is DEC 2060; 6 Vax 11/750's; SUN, HP and Silicon Graphics work stations; Grinnel frame buffer and approximately 100 terminals.
