ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
RESEARCH SCIENTIST POSITIONS
Applications are invited for several research scientist
positions in the Department's Artificial Intelligence Group.
The Group has recently been awarded a major grant to
purchase Lisp machines and to fund these research positions.
The Group presently consists of five faculty and approxi-
mately 30 graduate students, with interests spanning all of
A.I.
Applicants in any sub-area of A.I. will be considered.
Applicants should have an excellent proven research ability;
they should have (or expect to soon complete) a doctorate,
or have very extensive industrial research experience.
Duties may include research, teaching at the graduate
level, and responsibility for day-to-day running of the
Group's research projects.
The University of Toronto is Canada's largest univer-
sity. It is situated in the downtown area of Toronto (popu-
lation, 2 million plus suburbs). Toronto is generally
regarded as the cultural and financial capital of Canada,
and has a well-deserved reputation for being a particularly
clean, safe, cosmopolitan, and exciting city. The climate
is similar to that of Boston.
U of T's Computer Science Department is large and
well-established, and is highly-regarded throughout the
world for its research. The Artificial Intelligence Group
was described by the granting agency as ``second to none in
Canada, and of world class''.
