From: Randy.Bryant@CMU-CS-VLSI.ARPA CALL FOR PAPERS 1985 CHAPEL HILL CONFERENCE ON VLSI MAY 15-17, 1985 University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill This is the seventh in the series of annual conferences on advanced research in VLSI (very large scale integration) that have been held since 1979 at Caltech and at MIT. These conferences bring together leading specialists in the wide scope of work relating to the realization of complex computing systems in VLSI. This year's conference seeks to emphasize work on the effects of VLSI on the design of algorithms and on the design of complete, integrated systems. The conference will continue to be small and informal. Speakers will be urged to explain the relevance of their work to non-specialists. CONTRIBUTED PAPERS are sought in the following and related areas: - device modeling and fabrication - hardware design languages - design automation - silicon compilation - simulation - systems architecture - testing - special-purpose architecture - parallel architectures - theoretical issues - parallel algorithms DRAFT PAPERS (5 copies) should be sent by JANUARY 15, 1985 to: Henry Fuchs, Program Chair Dept. of Computer Science New West Hall 035A Univ. of North Carolina Chapel Hill, NC 27514 (919)966-4650 Notification of acceptance will be sent to authors by February 15. Camera-ready copies of papers for the Proceedings will be due March 15. PROCEEDINGS: Bound proceedings, to be published by Computer Science Press, will be distributed to attendees at the start of the conference and available later from the publisher. INVITED SPEAKERS: A list of invited speakers will be available with the registration invitations. ATTENDANCE: Attendance is by invitation only. For information, please write: Ms. Bobette Eckland, Conference Registration Dept. of Computer Science New West Hall 035A Univ. of North Carolina Chapel Hill, NC 27514 CONFERENCE SITE: The conference will be held in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, site of the oldest state university in the nation (1795) and one corner of North Carolina's famous Research Triangle. Raleigh-Durham Airport, served by 9 major carriers, is 15 miles away.
