The Digital Mapping and Image Understanding project is currently looking
for  talented  individuals  to fill Research Programmer positions in the
areas of large-scale image/map databases, rule-based systems for  aerial
image   understanding,   and   automated   extraction   of  cartographic
information  from  complex  scenes.    We  require  a  strong   academic
background  at  the  B.S./M.S.    level  as  well  as some background in
computer vision, with programming experience in UNIX/C and/or  Lisp/OPS5
environments.    Experience and interest in cartography, expert systems,
and large-scale system  development  is  a  plus.    We  have  excellent
research  facilities  including  Vax  11/780's,  Sun  workstations,  and
